Additional Details

King Kamehameha II and Queen Kamamalu both died of measles while visiting London in 1824. To return their bodies to Hawaii, the English sent the H.M.S. Blonde under Baron George Anson Byron. This account of the voyage also covers the fatal London visit and some natural history observations. On the return trip, the ship rescued six shipwreck survivors who had resorted to cannibalism.
